IEDPU celebrates members’ elevation in Armed Forces

…… Urges new officers to take a cue from their predecessors 

Indigenes of Ilorin Emirate in various professions, particularly those in the military and paramilitary services, have been urged to emulate their celebrated senior compatriots who brought heroic fame and inestimable honour to the community through their unblemished services in the armed forces.

 They are also advised to exhibit high level of diligence and professionalismin the discharge of their professional duties for them to have smooth careers as well as attain the pinnacles of their callings.

This advice was contained in a release issued by the National President of Ilorin Emirate Descendants Progressive Union (IEDPU), Alhaji Aliyu Otta Uthman,fsi, and signed by the association National Publicity Secretary,  Abubakar Imam, while reacting to the recent elevations of six distinguished sons of Ilorin Emirate in the services of the Nigerian Armed Forces.

Alhaji Uthman described the promotion of Air Vice Marshall L. I. Oluwatoyin, Major-General B. A Alabi, Brigadier-General O. A. Aminu, Brigadier-General T. Ahmed and Brigadier-General Y. O Zubair as well as Air Commodore B. R. Amuda; as a worthy development considering the fact that “it was the first time in the recent annals of the community that such a large number of its indigenes would be elevated to top-most ranks in the military simultaneously”.

The Union also described the career progression of those officers and gentlemen as “a joyous and endearing end of the year gift not only to the concerned senior officers and their families but also to the entire people of Ilorin Emirate who have always wished their compatriots the best in their various careers”.

Alhaji Uthman urged the benefiting senior officers and other sons and daughters of Ilorin Emirate in the military and paramilitary services to continue to exhibit exemplary patriotism, uncommon bravery and outstanding gallantry not just to deserve more elevations but also to keep the flag of the Emirate flying in their various formations and services.

“We congratulate the Executive Governor of Kwara State, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq on the glorious milestones attained by those distinguished indigenes of the State as we also rejoice with our father the Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji (Dr.)Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari,CFR, on the elevations of six of his subjects”, the statement added.

While assuring the senior officers of the prayers,supports and good wishes of His Royal Highness,the Emir of Ilorin; and the good people of Ilorin Emirate at home and in diaspora, the IEDPU President pledged that the Union would continue to monitor the progress of every indigene of the community wherever they are “for the love of our people”.

The statement wished the distinguished senior officers more colourful and rewarding careers in the services of their fatherland.
