The Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji (Dr.) Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, has, again, appealed to his subjects wherever they are to intensify prayers for the continuous positive transformation of Ilorin Emirate, Kwara State and the nation at large.
The Emir made this appeal on Thursday (April 25, 2019) while playing host to a delegation of the National Executive Council of the Ilorin Emirate Descendants Progressive Union (IEDPU), which paid him a congratulatory visit on his 79th birthday.
He said that the people of Ilorin Emirate are from time immemorial, known as prolific propagators of Islam, a religion, which appreciates and emphasises the need for mankind to always communicate with the Almighty Allah through ceaseless prayers rather than depending on human manipulations.
Alhaji Sulu-Gambari, who is also the Life Patron of the Union, said that he was not used to annual celebration of birthdays remarked that he was speechless earlier on Monday (April 22, 2019) seeing young princeses and princesses singing in commemoration of the birthday.
The Emir added that he was further surprised when various individuals and organisations from within and outside his Emirate started forwarding congratulatory messages to him.
The Emir thanked the IEDPU for the visit and good wishes extended to him on the birthday, which he said was not unexpected considering the Union’s fraternity with him and the Alimi dynasty.
He also expressed his joy for the consistent leading roles being played by the Union, over the years, in the area of community development.
The foremost Monarch, who is also the Chairman of the Kwara State Council of Chiefs, prayed the Almighty Allah to continue to bless the souls and legacies of the founding fathers of the Emirate as well as those of their illustrious successors who worked to place the Emirate in its frontline positions.
Speaking earlier, the Ag.National President of the IEDPU, Alhaji Yahaya O. Ahmed rejoiced with the Emir on his birthday.
Alhaji Yahaya added that the Union was proud of the enviable pedigree and lofty accomplishments of the Emir since he assumed the position of his forebears 24 years ago.
Alhaji Yahaya noted that the prevailing peace and ceaseless progress the community is enjoying in the last two and half decades were largely due to the insistence of the Emir on prayers as well as his refined diplomacy and outstanding leadership qualities, which kept attracting people from all walks of life to Ilorin.
While the IEDPU assured the Emir of the Union’s continuous support, he prayed Allah to bless the Emir with longer life, sound health and more wisdom to enable him continue to lead the people of the Emirate to the promised land.
Other members of the Union, who accompanied the Ag.National President on the congratulatory visit were Alhaji Abdulwaheed Shuaib Pakata, Alhaji Aliyu Aremu, Alhaji Bolaji Alaya, Alhaji M.B.Olohundare, Alhaji Abdulmumini Yusuf, Alhaji Garuba Alao, Alhaji Yakubu Mustapha, who are all Ex-officio members, and the Union’s National Publicity Secretary, Mallam Abubakar S.Imam.
