We are monitoring 75 contact tracing of Kwara COVID19 case – Gov Abdulrazaq

The Kwara State governor, Mallam  Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq has said the government is tracing about 75 people that had contact with the Kwara State’s first Covid 19 case and her late husband in Ilorin and Offa in order to ensure that the virus did not spread further in the state.


Governor Abdulrahman stated this today while addressing men of the pen pushers in the government house, saying that this is a trying moment for the state but not a death moment.


The governor also said Kwara’s second COVID19 case is a diabetic patient who also has a traveling history to United Kingdom. He said the first case, which was the wife of the man who died at the UITH last week, has been taking to isolation center.


The governor however expressed his displeasure at the high level of insensitivity of Prof. Salami Alakija for taking a patient he was well aware of having traveling history from UK and had developed COVID19 symptoms after 13 days of self isolation to  public hospital and in the course of that exposing the lives of so many people to danger.


The Governor said he had directed  the hospital management for the immediate suspension of Prof. Salami Alakija and other hospital staff members who assisted him in the barbaric act in order to serve as a deterrent to others.

While reacting to the closure of markets and banning of public transportation in and outside the state, Gov. Abdulrahman stated that food sales markets cannot be totally closed down as market men and women will have to go to market to make ends meet and make available food stuffs for civil servants who are observing stay-at-home order of the government. 


He also said that his govt would continue the fumigation of all markets in the state to prevent the spread of COVIS19 in the state. The Governor also stated that big trucks bringing food items from other states cannot be stopping from entering the state to make food available in abundance for its citizens.


While reacting to the allegation that a derica of rice were being given to citizens as parliatives from the state government, the governor said the rumour was a delebrate  blackmail from unscrupulous politicians to tarnish the image of his government. 


He howevere stated that this is not a time to join politics with welfare of Kwarans but time to come together, support and make life more meaningful to all Kwarans.


Mallam Abdulrahman opined that it is in the interest of all Kwarans to follow government  order to stay at home and stay, saying that it is indiscipline and disobedience to stay at home that make the virus uncontrollable in Italy, Spain and other parts of Europe. 


The governor also said the state’s isolation center is well equipped to cater for the needs of patients and comfortablility of health workers. He also said Kwara State will benefit from the ventilators to be procured by the federal government.

He also said Thermometers was also included in the parliative materials being made available for the vulnerable people in the state.


Also speaking at the press briefing, the state Commissioner for Health, Dr Raji Razaq  said his government is leaving no stne untouched to  make sure that corona virus does not spread in the state.


He said community awareness is at top gear to ensure people at the grass root are enlighten about the danger of COVID19.
The Health Commissioner also stated that personal protective equipment have been procured for all health centers in the state.


The press briefing was also attended by the state Deputy Governor, who was also the Chairman of Committee against Corona virus, Mr Kayode Alabi, Emir of Shonga; Dr. Haliru Yahya Ndanusa and other members of the committee.
