A group under the aegis of Kwara Youth Patriots has urged the State Governor, Alhaji Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, to halt any plans to appoint two Chieftains of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Mr Sunday Fagbemi and Barrister Kunle Sulyman into his cabinet.
The group said the duo are questionable characters and bereft of integrity required to consider them for appointment into the government the people of the state wholeheartedly identified with.
A statement issued in Ilorin yesterday by Chairman and Secretary of the group, Mallam Yinka Adams, Mr Saheed Adisa respectively, said information at its disposal indicated that Governor Abdulrazaq was considering both Fagbemi and Sulyman for appointment into sensitive positions, warning that doing so would spell doom for the state.
The group also warned that appointing the two party chieftains would not put the government in good perspective of the public because of their antecedents.
Besides, the group added that the embattled APC stalwarts have become spent force with no new ideas to offer the government in moving the state forward.
The group called on the Governor to rather allow his administration to be youth oriented and dominated, who will in turn inject fresh ideas into the governmental affairs.
“Information at our disposal is that the Kwara State Governor, Alhaji Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, is planning to appoint the likes of Mr Sunday Fagbemi and Barr kunle sulyman and Co into sensitive positions in the state. Doing this at this time may spell doom for the already battered situation of the state, and will not put the administration in good perspective of the public.
“We are drawing your Excellency’s attention to this because of the fact that the duo are of questionable character and blemished reputation, which you also know. They are reputed for unwholesome activities.
The characters of this nature should not be identified with our amiable and respected governor, because our people say “show me your friend, and I will tell you who you are”.
“Also, the duo aside from being of questionable character, they have no credible track records. The catalogue of their misdeeds is well known to the general public. And we are sure this is not news to you too sir.
“However, these men are spent force with no new things to offer your administration. We begin to wonder why they don’t want to leave the scene while the ovation is loud. These are not the type of people we require at this moment. What we are demanding is the involvement of vibrant and agile youths who can make it make the difference”, the statement said.
