….As Esinrogunjo breaks silence on kwara lawmakers’ leadership tussle
A Governmental Youth Organisation under the umbrella of All Progressives Congress (APC), National Youth Organisation has appealed to President Muhammadu Buhari to keep to his campaign promises of allocating 40 per cent of political appointment slots to Nigerian youth.
The Convener and Acting President of the organization, Comrade Shamsideen Ogunolu made the appeal at a forum organised the association in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital.
Shamsideen said the promise if fulfilled, will give the Nigerian youths good sense of belonging and compensation for their tremendous contributions towards his victory.
The association acting President explained that Nigerian youth have the potentials to offer quality governance for the masses as tenable in other developed countries of the world.
He also appealed to the President to create more opportunities for the country’s teeming youths being churned out annually by various institutions of learning across the country.
This, according to him, can be achieved by creating more entrepreneurship programmes and equipping Nigerian Universities to be ICT driven and compliant.
Shamsideen however expressed profound gratitude to Nigerian electorate for working assiduously to ensure the re-election of President Muhammad Buhari and the Vice President, Yemi Osibanjo for the second term.
The Acting President also congratulated all Nigerian Senators, House of Representatives members, Governors and House of Assembly members who were victorious at the last 2019 general elections.
He then thanked the leadership of APC, Comrade Adams Oshiomole, and Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu for showing great interest and support for the youth agenda by organising Bola Tinubu Youth Support (BTYS), which, he said, coincidentally held the same day of his inauguration.
Shamsideen used the forum to appeal to political gladiators not to undermine the peace and security in the country by overheating the polity, but rather channel their grievances to the appropriate quarters by going to the competent court of law to seek regression.
“APC Youth organization came into existence as a platform to solve the yearning and demand for youth inclusiveness in government.
“The quest for youths to hold high profiled and sensitive offices and positions in our present day modern democracy has become a global phenomenon, and Nigeria cannot be left behind.
“The organization amongst other functions, serves the purpose of bridging the existing gap between the youths and the leaders in the authority by a way to of seeking direction and guidelines.
“It also preaches peace, unity and co-operation, teamwork and hard work to curb social vices among youths. The organization has in its projects, skill acquisitions and youth empowerment programs as a way of youth integration and compensation for their input and peaceful disposition before, during and after the elections.
“The narratives are changing for better and the youths are no longer playing second fiddle. We have the potentials to offer quality governance as tenable in other developing and developed countries of the world.
“Ultimately, the role of the organization is to build consensus and get people moving in an agreed direction that will usher in good dividends of democracy to the grassroots.
“We appreciate the effort of President Muhamadu Buhari to make the youths self-reliant by providing excellent empowerment schemes like the N-Power programmes for teeming graduates.
Shamsideen equally appealed to President Buhari to improve on the free education programme to help indigent students and serve as indirect empowerment to widows who could not afford their children’s’ school fees, adding that such programme will also reduce the number of Out-Of-School children in Nigeria.
The APC youth acting president also reminded the President of his campaign promise on NOT TOO YOUNG TO RUN agenda and appealed to the President to support the emergence of youthful candidate in the next Presidential elections.
He implored the youths to always vote beyond ethnic sentiment and religious lines so as to have a United, peaceful and prosperous nation.
“The youth organisations is a joint task, and we welcome all stakeholders and progressive minds to join us champion this course. We are resilient and resolute to see the emergence of youth oriented government come 2023. It’s a task we all must assume in our various localities. “he mentioned
The Convener informed that, the future of Nigeria and Africa at large rests in our hands as a people, saying that we need each other’s contributions and supports, irrespective of political differences, to accomplish this task.
“All positive contributions are needed at to bring positive transformation to our fatherland. With youth on board, next level is assured” he added.
In his speech at the event, one of the APC stalwarts in Kwara State, Comrade Musbau Esinrogunjo charged youth in the State to continue to remain focused and determined.
Esinrogunjo also told the youth to always show high level of discipline and good courage in whatever they do.
According to him, “the nation is blessed with youth that heve all what it takes to improve the socioeconomic and change the political history of Nigeria to better.
He called on the the political actors in Nigeria to provide an enabling atmosphere where youth could participate actively in the development of the nation.
He also confirmed that the selection of position of the leadership of the Kwara State House of Assembly for the next political dispensation has never caused issue among APC members both in Kwara and at national level.
He stated that APC has a very good machinery to resolve any issue amicably for the interest of the people and the nation.
He then thanked Kwaran youth for showing a tremendous love and support for APC as a party.
