The Nigeria Bar Association (NBA), Ilorin branch has vowed to take legal action over alleged brutalisation and molestation of one of its members, Mr Lukman Bello, by Police in llorin.

The Chairman of the branch, Mr Mohammed Akanbi, made this known while speaking with the newsmen in llorin on Monday.

Akambi described the police action as undemocratic insisting that the association would challenge it at the Federal High Court.

He said that the action of the police against lawyers in the state has become a recurring decimal, pointing out that a lot of his members have been facing undue intimidation, molestation and brutalisation in the course of performing what legal profession demands.

Reacting to the allegation, Police Spokesman in the state, Mr Ajayi Okasanmi, said that the Commissioner of Police, Mr Fafowora Olaniyi, had intervened in to the matter.

He said that investigations on the alleged brutalisation of the lawyer had reached an advance stage and that the culprits would be sanctioned appropriately.

It would be recalled that some policemen from Traffic Section of “A’’ Division Police Station in llorin, recently harassed and molested Lawyer Bello while trying to bail someone in their custody.
