Six persons who were arrested during a raid by the police at some alleged criminal hideout within Ilorin and its environs have been charge before an Ilorin Chief Magistrate Court.
The accused were: Akeem Adewale, 24 Kilanko Area; Azeez Abdulkareem, 26 of Kilanko Area; Lamidi Suleiman, 24 of Offa-Garage Area; Babatunde Ogundipe, 38 of Offa-Garge Area; Ibrahim Issa, 42 of New Yidi Road and Juwon Jacob, 26 of Ita-Amodu Area, all in Ilorin, Kwara State.
They were arraigned on a two-count charge of criminal conspiracy and unlawful assembly, which contravened Sections 97 and 100(C) of Penal Code Law.
Police said that the accused were arrested on August 5, 2017 at about 11:30pm during a raid at Offa-Garage Area, long Ajase-Ipo Road, Ilorin, Kwara State where they assembled to commit an offence.
Police First Information Report (FIR) stated that investigation conducted at the Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department, Ilorin revealed that the accused could not give satisfactory account of their place of abode and their presence at the point where they were arrested at that wee hours of the day.
The FIR added that the accused thereby constituted nuisance and threat to the security in the area.
The prosecutor, Inspector Matthew Ologbonsaye who informed the court that investigation into the case was ongoing. He objected bail of the accused and urged the court to remand them in prison custody pending the outcome of investigation.
The Chief Magistrate, Mrs. K.A. Yahaya declined to the submission of the defence and ordered that the accused be admitted to bail each at the sum of N250,000 and two sureties in the same amount.
The case was adjourned till July 9 for further mention.
