….fingers Lai Mohammed

A group, under the aegis of Kwara New Agenda has raised an alarm over alleged plans to impose Alhaji Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq as governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the just concluded primary election of the party in Kwara State.

Addressing a press conference in Ilorin on Sunday, the President of the group, Timothy Agbolushola said the group rejected the choice of Abdulrazaq because he is an unpopular candidate, warning that any attempt to impose him would not augur well for the party in the forthcoming general elections.

Agbolushola fingered the Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, of being the brain behind the move to lord Abdulrazaq over the APC governorship aspirants as an anointed candidat.

He pleaded with President Muhammadu Buhari, APC National Chairman, Adams Oshiomole and members of the National Working Committee of the party to allow internal democracy to prevail in the state chapter of the party.

He described the just concluded governorship primary election of the party in the state as a charade and blantant enforcement of power to control people against their will.

Agbolushola noted that the process, both the minister and his political mercenary imposed, would not give the APC the credible flag bearer that it deserves.

Describing Abdulrazaq as a crony of the Senate President, the group’s president alleged that Mohammed was not interested in the struggle for freedom in the state.

“The news and whatsapp message that has been going round for days indicates that Alhaji Lai Mohammed had collected a huge amount of money from Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq.

“We vehemently say no to his plan to impose Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq who does not have any political structure in his local government area (Ilorin West).

“We hereby say no to giving our mandate to a well known Saraki’s crony. We say no to APC’s connection with Saraki through Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq and Lai Mohammed.

“To avoid any doubt, let us all remember that Alhaji Lai Mohammed is far more interested in his life in Lagos State than the plight of the people of Kwara State. His son, Jimi is a member of the Lagos State House of Assembly. Even though he is representing Kwara State as a minister of Information and Culture, his two Special Assistants are not from Kwara State.

“Alhaji Lai Mohammed is not interested in the struggle and agitation of Kwarans for freedom. He will return to Lagos State after concluding the mercenary assignment to install a puppet governorship candidate called Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, who is unpopular in Kwara political scene”, Agbolushola added.
