BREAKING: Federal lawmaker, Funke Adedoyin dies, Gov Ahmed, Ahmad commiserate with family

A member of the House of Representatives representing Irepodun Isin/ Ekiti /Oke Ero Federal Constituency of Kwara State, Honourable Funke Adedoyin is dead.

She was appointed as health minister by former president Olusegun Obasanjo during his first term between 1999-2003.

Adedoyin died in a hospital in Abuja on Friday, 28 of September, 2018.

Omolola Olobayo who is the sister of the deceased and a former Chairman of Manufacturers Association of Nigeria, Kwara and Kogi chapter said her sister died in an Abuja hospital after returning from treatment abroad.

The Chairman of House Judiciary Committee and governorship aspirant in Kwara, confirmed that Ms Adedoyin died of cancer.

Adedoyin died in a hospital in Abuja on Friday, 28 of September, 2018.

Meanwhile, the Kwara State Governor, Dr Abdulfatah Ahmed has described her death as shocking and devastating.

Governor Ahmed in a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Abdulwahab Oba, said the state has lost one of her outstanding representatives.

The governor said the late lawmaker was full of passion to serve her community and uplift the people of her constituency.

Governor Ahmed recalled that Hon. Adedoyin during her stint at the lower chamber attracted federal presence to Irepodun/Isin/Ekiti/Oke-Ero federal constituency and empowered a number of people with a view to uplifting the welfare.

Governor Ahmed commiserated with the immediate family of Adedoyin, her constituents and the entire people of the state over the irreparable lost.

The Governor also sympathised with her colleagues in the House of Representatives, saying that the state would sorely missed her quality representation.

Also a governorship aspirant on the platform of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), in kwara state Rt. Hon. Dr. Ali Ahmad has described the death of Honourable Funke Adedoyin as sudden and tragic.

Dr. Ahmad, who is the Speaker of the Kwara State House of Assembly described her demise as a colossal loss to the people of her Constituency, Adedoyin family and the entire PDP family.

The Speaker’s reaction was contained in a condolence message issued by his Media Aide, Shuaib Abdulkadir and lamented that Kwara State has lost one her best representative in the person of the late lawmaker.

He said, without mincing words, the late legislator had performed excellently in the House of Representatives within the last three and half years despite being a first timer at the Hallowed Chambers.

Dr.Ahmad said the deceased would be sorely missed, not only by her colleagues, the House,but the state at large.

He stressed that Hon. Adedoyin was exceptional at the House, as she was responsive to the yearnings of her Constituents as well as prioritising what enhance their well-being.

The governorship aspirant prayed God to grant the deceased eternal rest, the Patriarch of Adedoyin family, Pa Samuel Adedoyin and other members of the family, the people of Irepodun federal Constituency,the Senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki, the Peoples Democratic Party, government and People of Kwara State the fortitude to bear the irreplaceable loss.
