A governorship aspirant, Prince Ayorinde Adedoyin has emerged the gubernatorial flagbearer of Accord Party in Kwara State in the 2019 general elections.
Prince Adedoyin emerged at the party’s primaries held in Ilorin yesterday at Favour Hall opposite Kulende Estate, Ilorin.
Delegates of party from all the 16 local government areas of the state were in attendance, while the programme was also conducted under the supervision of national officials of the party and INEC representatives.
Barrister Sikiru Adeposi led other national officials of the party, while Barrister Ayodeji Akerele of Legal Department, INEC office in Kwara State and Mr Jubril Abubakar of Election and Political Party Monitoring Department represented INEC at the event.
Speaking shortly after the affirmation of Prince Ayorinde Adedoyin as Accord Party flagbearer, Barrister Sikiru Adeposi said Prince Adedoyin emerged through a consensus process to pave way for party’s victory come 2019 general elections.
He said Accord Party was not new in the state because Col. Theophilus Bamigboye (rtd) was once the governorship candidate of the party.
While describing Prince Adedoyin as a popular and sellable candidate, he said Accord Party was ready to take over the mantle of leadership in the state in the next general elections.
He urged party members and supporters to remain committed to the ideals of the party and ensure that the party emerge victorious in the 2019 general elections.
Also speaking, the state chairman of caretaker committee of the Accord Party, Mr Jaiyeola Omotosho said absolute concern for Kwarans prompted the party’s candidate to join the race.
The party chairman who described Prince Adedoyin as a core businessman, said the party’s flagbearer would give the state a new leaf if given the opportunity.
In his affirmation speech, Accord Party candidate said he decided to join the governorship race in response to the calls and yearnings of the people of the state, assuring that he would not betray people’s confidence if voted into power.
He said his vision as a governor was to partner, cooperate and work with elected representatives, public servants, business owners, young people, civil societies and various communities to support the continued development
of a viable, successful, and a sustainable Kwara state.
“I want to build a bridge to the new kwara with the help of everyone includes you and I.Kwara has more natural resources than any other state in the federation from the vast area of arable land to the priceless tourist communities but that’s not what makes us rich. What makes us rich is seeing you and I build the Kwara of our dreams.
“This is more than a political campaign; it is a call to restore the greater glory of Kwara. Give me your help, not to win votes alone, but to win in this crusade to restore Kwara to its own people, the kwarans.
“We are not here to curse the darkness; we are here to light a candle. If we open a quarrel between the present and the past, we shall be in danger of
losing the future. Today our concern must be with that future”, he said.
