2nd JAMB football tourney begin Sept. 30

The 2nd edition of the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB), football tournament, will begin on Sunday, September 30, and end on Saturday, October 6, 2018.

 

The Kwara Commissioner for Sports and Youth Development, Muyideen Alalade, disclosed this in an interview with the newsmen on Thursday in Ilorin.

 

Alalade, who is the Chairman of the Main Organising Committee (MOC), said the committee is working hard to surpass the successes recorded in the first edition.

 

The Commissioner explained that the number of institutions that competed last year will remain 16 as the committee is not increasing or decreasing the number.

 

He assured participating institutions a memorable experience as the first, second and third teams will be smiling home with some cash apart from the trophy at stake.

 

Alalade commended JAMB for the second time opportunity, he pointed out that the feat achieved in the maiden edition ocassioned the consideration to host the second edition, adding that Kwara has the potentials and manpower to always do it right.

 

The Commissioner explained that the MOC had earlier concretized agreement with the University of Ilorin and Kwara Football Academy on the hosting of the competition, and as well, met with the leadership of the Joint Steering Committee for Sports Development in higher institutions, comprising NUGA, NIPOGA and NICEGA, on the way forward.

 

Niger College of Education, Minna, Niger state won the first edition of the 16-institutions football competition which is being sponsored by JAMB, and supported by Kwara state government.
