People of Kwara North Senatorial District have demanded for fair share in the distribution of political appointments in the coming political dispensation in the state in the interest of fairness, justice and equity
The the disteidi under the umbrella of Kwara North Elders Council particularly demanded for Ministerial slot, Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Membership of APC National Executive Committee (NEC), Speakership of the State Assembly and other offices in the next political dispensation as listed in order of priority.
The council in a statement jointly singed by it’s chairman and Secretary, Hon. Abubakar Mora and Hon. Manzuma Kawu Abdulmalik respectively, said the decision to request for the above positions was arrived at during a brainstorming session over the lingering plight of Kwara North where all stakeholders from the district were in attendance.
The statement said that various speakers from the five local government areas who took turn to speak on the plight of Kwara North at the session were unanimous in discrediting self-serving leaders for misplacing priorities of the area.
The zone according to the group gave an average of 82% of total votes from the area in 2019 general elections, adding that the region is not in contest with anybody or group of persons either within or outside the senatorial district.
The council emphasized that equity and fair play in sharing of political offices remain the only key for building an all-inclusive government which the Governor- Elect, Alhaji Abdulrahman Abdulrasaq is championing.
While saying that the district has been suffering neglect by previous administrations in the state including the outgoing government, the council emphasised that getting the highly coveted Ministerial slot and SSG would inject meaningful life into the area.
