COVID-19: Afro Pop Singer donates N.5m cash, food stuff to vulnerable people

An Ilorin-based Afro Pop Singer, Ayokanmi Oluwasegun Eyanro, has doled out over N500,000 cash and N200,000 worth of food items to rural communities in Kwara State.

He said the gesture was to cushion the effects of lockdown on rural dwellers, especially vulnerable people among them.

Speaking to Journalists in Ilorin, Frequencie said he distributed food items such as rice, spaghetti, semovita and noodles to some vulnerable people as his own stimulus package to them as COVID-19 ravages the world.

Afro Pop Singer, popularly known as Frequencie, however, called for calm among residents, saying that contact tracing of people infected with the virus is a welcome development now that the index case of COVID-19 in Kwara has risen to four.

According to him, the negligence and delay from some advanced nations to commence test at early stage on those that might be infected with the virus has worsen the state of things.

Frequencie, however, frowned at the “poor handling of the suspected coronavirus case at the University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital (UITH).

“No preferential treatment should be given to patients at this critical moment, because the disease shows no regard to anyone. I wonder why anyone will even want to hide his status or get special treatment in this situation we find ourselves.

“In the real sense of it, the elite in the society should lead by example in disclosing their status, and sharing their success story, to encourage the common man to show readiness to fight this scourge”, Frequencie said.

He implored Kwarans to adhere strictly to the precautionary measures for prevention and control of the deadly Coronavirus.

Afro Pop Singer said, “Wash your hands regularly, apply alcohol based sanitizer and improve personal hygiene. Dear fans, obey all government directives at this critical moment to prevent and control COVID 19 spread”.
