Ramadan: Saliu Mustapha unwinds with journalists,  approves installation of Internet at NUJ secretariat

The Chairman, Senate Committee on Agricultural Production and Rural Services,  Senator Salihu Mustapha has identified journalists as integral participants in the nation building. 

Senator Mustapha who is representing Kwara Central Senatorial District at the National Assembly disclosed this on Saturday  (March 16, 2024) while addressing journalists shortly after the Ramadan Iftar he organised at his  residence,  Fate/Tanke area, Ilorin, the kwara state capital.

He described journalists as opinion moulders, whose contributions to nation building are very relevant and useful. 

The lawmaker therefore sought for journalists’ useful information and candid advice that will serve as  guides in the pursuit of his legislative business,  saying that their constructive criticism would be highly appreciated, as it will give him the necessary direction.

While saying that he cannot be everywhere at the same time as a lawmaker, Mustapha urged the members of the fourth estate of the realm to always call his attention to  the yearnings of his constituents any time the need arises.

He however announced the approval of the installation of Internet facility at the  Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), kwara state council.

In his response,  the NUJ Chairman, Comrade Ahmed ‘Lateef  thanked the Senator for his plan to provide the council with Internet access, describing the gesture as timely, useful and worthwhile. 

He said members of the pen profession in the state would continue to remain  grateful  to him for this gesture,  pointing out that Internet facility remains a major vehicle through which journalists file his reports on daily basis.
