The newly appointed Commissioner of Tertiary Education in Kwara State, Dr Abdulhafeez Abolore Alabi has commended the Management and staff of the Kwara State University (KWASU) for keeping the flag of the institution flying in the areas of teaching and research, just as he described KWASU as a pride to the state.
Dr Alabi made the commendation on Monday (August 8, 2022) when the principal officers of the institution, led by the Vice Chancellor, Professor Muhammed Mustapha Akanbi SAN, paid him a congratulatory visit in his office.
The commissioner who noted with admiration that he has been reading various positive reports about KWASU long time ago and in the recent times in terms of milestone achievements, also gave kudos to the Management of the institution for sustaining stable academic calendar against all odds.
He therefore pledged the readiness of Governor Abdulrahaman Abdulrazaq led administration in the state to provide the institution with necessary supports needed for the attainment of significant growth and development in this citadel of learning.
Earlier in his remarks, the Vice Chancellor, Professor Akanbi congratulated the new commissioner and prayed God to guide him and lead him through in his new state assignment.
Professor Akanbi expressed confidence and conviction that the new commissioner being an academic will understand where the shoe pinches the University and hoped that he would use his good office to herald necessary supports that will further stimulate effective teaching and learning on campus.
The Vice Chancellor hinted that all arrangements have been concluded by the authority of the University to commence Degree in Medicine this year starting from this year’s 2022/2023 admission exercise, pointing out that KWASU is currently running over 55 programmes at undergraduate level aside other various postgraduate programmes.
While saying that KWASU is blessed with committed and resilience staff, Professor Akanbi appealed to the state government to come to the aid of the University especially in the areas of subvention, accreditation, land encroachment, portable water, and most importantly security, so as to continue to run a seamless and rancour free educational system on campus.
Also in attendance included the Deputy Vice Chancellor Administration Professor Omololu Oladele Fapojuwo, Deputy Vice Chancellor Academic Professor Shaykh Lukman Jimoh, Bursar Mallam Muhammad Abubakar, University Librarian Dr AbdulSalam Salman, Ag Director University Relations Dr (Mrs) Saeedat Aliyu, the Personal Assistant the Vice Chancellor Mr Is’haq Babatunde among others.
