The Commonwealth Scholars and Fellows Alumni Association, Nigeria (COSFAN) has applauded the Governor of Edo State, Mr Godwin Obaseki, for employing Miss Juliet Amenaghawon Ogbomo, a Lawyer at the Benin Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) Camp into Edo State Civil service.

The association described the appointment of the female lawyer as a Senior State Counsel through the state Ministry of Justice as well deserved.

This was contained in a statement issued by COSFAN General Secretary, Dr Biola Adimula, on behalf of the President of the association, Dr Uduak Udom, and made available to Journalists in Ilorin today, Monday 13th of August  2018.

The statement noted with delight that the appointment of Miss Ogbomo into Edo State Civil Service was in response to the two requests the association made to the Governor after joining the IDPs at their camp in Benin-City, the state capital to celebrate 2017 Commonwealth Day with them.

It added that the female lawyer had since resumed work on August 5, 2018 as Senior State Counsel in the state.

The association thanked the state government for honouring its requests, which included commissioning of classrooms and modern facilities the former Governor of the state constructed within the IDP camp.

“During the Commonwealth Day celebrations on March, 13, 2017, Commonwealth Scholars and Fellows Alumni Association, Nigeria (COSFAN) marked the event at the Home of the Needy, ICC IDP Camp Benin City and the association was well received by His Excellency Mr. Godwin Obaseki, the Executive Governor of Edo state.

“The Government of Edo state was physically present at the event in the IDP camp. The Executive Governor was represented by His Excellency, Comrade Philip Shuaibu, the Deputy Governor of Edo State, while His Excellency, Mr Godwin Obaseki, hosted COSFAN in the Government House. Two requests presented to the Governor have been met.

“First was the commissioning of classrooms and modern facilities constructed within the camp by your predecessor. The commissioning was done within a week after the visit to the Governor.

“Second was a request to employ Miss Juliet Amenaghawon Ogbomo, a Lawyer at the IDP camp into Edo State Civil service. Letters of reminder were sent by COSFAN and follow up was done through the Edo State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice.

“Now, Juliet has been offered an employment with the Edo State Ministry of Justice as Senior State Counsel, Grade Level 10- vide Edo State Civil Service Commission letter dated 3rd August, 2018. She resumed work on Monday 5th August, 2018.
