As Nigeria commemorates her 60th independence, an Afro Rockstar, Ayokanmi Oluwasegun Eyanro, has said that the period should be a moment of reflection for leaders and the led.
Eyanro, professionally known as Frequencie in the music industry, observed that Nigerians need to utilize the period of the anniversary to assess the value added and contributions to nation building individually and collectively.
In a statement issued in Ilorin, Frequencie, who is a Human Right Activist and Social Change Crusader from the North Central Region, urged the citizens to stay strong, united and patriotic.
The WAZOBIA Crooner advocated strict adherence to rule of law, conduct of free and fair elections, respect for human rights, obedience of court orders and end to reoccurring brutality by some security personnel as we celebrate another milestone in Nigeria’s political history.
The Afro Rockstar paid glowing tribute to founding fathers and activists that fought tirelessly for independence of the country, and patriotic Nigerians, who struggled for the democratic rule that ended the inglorious military era.
He, however, emphasized that Nigeria’s strength and power remained in our unity and oneness, if we want to keep playing leading role in Africa continent and a shining light in the world stage.
Frequencie also promised to continue to use his platform as a musician and activist for promotion of Nigeria’s culture, values and unity.
”I have been using my music to preach unity and promote Nigeria’s value. WAZOBIA song that I released on the 1st of October 2016 focuses on hard work, unity, resilience, perseverance and dedication of typical Nigeria”, the popular musician said.
Frequencie called on Nigerians to celebrate the 60th anniversary with excitement, noting that the country can surmount series of challenges facing it through collective efforts.
