The Ilorin Emirate Descendants’ Progressive Union (IEDPU) has commended Gov. AbdulRahman AbdulRasaq of Kwara for appointing Prof. Mohammed Mustapha-Akanbi as the new Vice-Chancellor of Kwara State University (KWASU).
The union’s appreciation was contained in a statement issued by its National Secretary, Prof. AbdulHamid Oba, in llorin on Monday.
“Ilorin Emirate Descendants’ Progressive Union (IEDPU) wishes to express its profound and immense gratitude to you for appointing our own Prof. Mustapha-Akanbi (SAN) as the new Vice Chancellor, Kwara State University (KWASU).
“We are deeply touched and inspired by your courage and balanced judgment in arriving at this popular decision,” it said.
The union added that the kind gesture had further convinced it of the governor’s good leadership posture and fairness to all segments of the state.It described Mustapha-Akanbi’s appointment as another step in the right direction, saying that it would set the state on the path of progress.
“We assure the governor that the new vice-chancellor will justify the confidence reposed on him by further taking the university to greater heights,” the union said.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Mustapha-Akanbi, a former Director, School of Preliminary Studies, University of Ilorin, succeeds the institution’s pioneer vice-chancellor and current vice-chancellor of University of Abuja, Prof. AbdulRasheed Na:Allah.
With his appointment, Mustapha-Akanbi became the second vice-chancellor of the university since its establishment in 2009
