The National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Ilorin East chapter has praised Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq over the appointment of Prof M.M.Akanbi as KWASU Vice Chancellor.
The congratulatory message was contained in a statement issued by Ilorin East Chairman, Mallam Taofiq Olateju Esq.
Olateju described Prof Akanbi’s appointment as well deserved in view of his wealth experience in academic, legal practice and administration.
While expressing confidence in the ability of Prof Akanbi to deliver, he urged the new appointee to justify the confidence reposed on him by bringing his wealth experience into bear in the new assignment.
Professor Muhammed Mustapha Olaroungbe Aremu Akanbi was born into the cherished family of late Hon. Justice Muhammed Mustapha Adebayo Akanbi and late Hajia Munfaatu Aduke Akanbi.
He hails from the Ile Magaji Kemberi, Awodi, Gambari Quarters, Ilorin East, Kwara State of Nigeria.
He attended various primary and secondary schools across the country i.e Kano, Port Harcourt, Ibadan and Okigwe in Imo State.
He attended the prestigious Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife and graduated top of his class in 1993. He bagged his Ph.D in law at the prestigious Kings College, London in 2006.
At age 40, Prof. M. M. Akanbi became Ilorin’s youngest Professor ever as at the time of his confirment. He is an internationally acclaimed Professor of Business Law with a niche in Commercial Arbitration.
He was appointed and served as the Director of the Unilorin School of Preliminary Studies (Fufu) in 2017. He is a former Chairman of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Ilorin.
Prof. Akanbi was conferred with the prestigious title of the Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) IN 2018, the highest in the legal profession. He is the founder and CG of MMGivit Initiative, a philanthropic NGO that caters for the less privileged. He is happily married to his heartthrob, Hajia Shakira Abdulrahman-Akanbi with children.
