Kwara State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) on Wednesday (July 31, 2019) urged teachers under it to exercise patience on the delay in the payment of their salaries.

The delay according to a statement issued by the Press Secretary, SUBEB, Mrs. Olufunke Olorunnisola, was in two folds.

The statement confirmed that the first delay was not unconncted with the recent change of the Directors of Personnel Management and Treasurers of various local government areas in the state.

This change, according to the statement implied that there would be a change in the signatories to the accounts of the local government areas from which payment for primary and junior secondary teachers come from.

It added that the issue of change of signatories has just been resolved.

“The second is the need to fully comply with the National Financial Intelligence Unit (NFIU) directives on local government autonomy. We regret this delay and call for patience by everyone concerned as the issues are being addressed by the government with a view to find immediate solutions to them.”
