Kwara 2019: Issa Aremu to establish industries in 16 local governments

Hope rises for kwarans and those resident in the state as the Labour Party governorship candidate in the State, Comrade Issa Aremu mni has pledged to establish industries across 16 local government areas of the state if elected as the state governor in the forthcoming general elections.

He said the rationale behind the revival of industries and companies by his government was a calculated attempt to generate massive employment opportunities and increase the state Gross Domestic Products (GDP) for better living of all and sundry.

While assuring kwarans of his seal determination to change the narrative in kwara state, Aremu promised to increase the literacy level at 90 per cent and increase children school enrollment at 95 per cent.

He also disclosed that his government would earmark special cash grants for elderly people from 60 years of age and above and for unemployed youth till government secures job for them.

The Labour Party Governorship hopeful dropped this hint on Monday while featuring at the NUJ 23rd Media Parliament held at the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Press Center, GRA, Ilorin, the kwara state capital.

He stated that he had offered himself to put an end to 16 years of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in kwara state and called on kwarans to hold him accountable if he fails to redeem his electioneering campaigns.

Aremu said the major vehicle for an enduring prosperity in all known human societies is availability of industries that will not only lubricate the economy but also provide numerous job opportunities for the teeming unemployed youth and adults.

He noted that the Labour Party manifesto was hinged on ‘five Ps’ which he mentioned as People, Prosperity, Popular Participation, Partnership and Peace, pointing out that his blueprint as a democratic labour governor, God willing, is encapsulated in the above 5-Ps.

According to him, the first P which is stands for ‘People’ is basically tilting towards eradicating poverty, paying the living wage as and when due and more importantly evolving policies and programmes that will have regard for human sanctity and dignity.

He said the ‘Prosperity’ point of his agenda is aimed at industrialising the state and bringing back the kwara old glory when vibrant and functional industries were situated in strategic places of the state.

On ‘Popular Participation’ he said his government is targeted at bringing all illustrious kwarans on board and give them the opportunity to have a say in terms of lofty ideas and constructive suggestions so as to collectively move the state forward.

Speaking on ‘Partnership’ Aremu said if elected, his government would give an open room for partnership between Federal and Kwara state government, between State and local governments, between government and private individuals and between two or more communities for the attainment of a robust relationship that will give birth to a tremendous development.

He disclosed that the fifth ‘P’ which is ‘Peace’ is to restore an enduring peace and harmony back to the state, adding that without harmony there can never be progress and development in the society.

Aremu said the salary of workers will be his priority, and decried the habit of delay salary or modulated salary being paid to the kwaran workers, saying that it is even a criminal offence for any governor to delay salary let alone not paying as and when due.

He saluted the courage of President Muhammad Buhari for challenging Nigerian governors how they were able to sleep when workers under them are being denied their constitutional right of their wages.
