Leading traditional rulers in kwara North Senatorial District have again reinterated their position on power shift to kwara North even as they pledged their support for a gubernatorial aspirant on the platform of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kwara state, Senator Muhammed Shaaba Lafiagi.
This came to the fore when Senator Lafiagi made his consultation visit to various traditional rulers in Edu and Patigi local givernment areas of the state.
Senator Lafiagi who visited the mornachs in company of his teeming supporters declared that his ultimate aim to vy for the governorship seat in the state is to add values to the lives of citizenry.
Lafiagi who is the former governor of kwara state and serving Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria pledged to bring his experience to bear in executing and promoting People driven projects for the benefit of all and sundry.
According to him, “Our people always say that only he who takes out of it will know what is left inside”.
Shaaba, who is the Dan Iyan Lafiagi,
stated further that his experience as former governor of the state and two-term senator has adequately and meticulously prepared him to fit in for effective driving of the state affairs if given the chance to govern the state once again.
He added that his antecedents as ex-governor still fresh in the memories of kwarans, saying that his coming back would further propell effective and effecient governance that will bring kwara to a promised land.
“All my entire working life is spent on service to humanity either in government or outside the government. Allah endured us with wisdom and good health, therefore We have no choice than to utilize these in the services of our people.
“My decision to occupy Government House again is to be able to add values to live. We are predominantly farmers who need modern agricultural inputs, processing facilities and storage equipment. We can add values to life through these channels and many more” he pledged.
Speaking in his Palace, the Emir of Lafiagi, His Royal Highness Alhaji Seidu Kawu Haliru who was represented by Maiyaki of Lafiagi described him as an illustrious son of Lafiagi and assured him of 100 percent support by all sons and daughters of Lafiagi and its environs.
The Maiyaki of Lafiagi said the Kingmakers and indeed the palace are happy that he heals the clarion call of his people to join the rice, adding that they are part of those who sent messages to him to contest.
In his remark, the PDP party Chairman, Alhaji Kilo Edogi earlier intimated that the community elders are happy that their son is out on a mission to consolidate his present achievements in the community at the higher pedestrian, saying that kwara will be transformed to the next level if his ambition to become the state governor come 2019 is realised.
Speakin at the palace of Etsu Patigi, His Royal Highness Alhaji Ibrahim Chatta Umar where drummers and dancers gave the aspirant a rousing welcone and colourful reception, Senator Lafiagi said he was at the Palace to solicit support and royal blessings of the Etsu to make his dream of becoming the next governor of the state a reality.
” we are here to seek your blessings on our ambitions, we have done it before and we are optimistic that we can get it done better again if given the privilege ” he said.
Responding, Etsu Patigi, Alhaji Chatta Umar gave assurance that all traditional rulers from Kwara North are united on their agitation for a Governor from Kwara North.
“We have no candidate, you are all our children and we can work with anyone of you that gets the ticket provided he is from Kwara North ” the Etsu affirmed.
He therefore prayed for him and wished him the accomplishment of his wishes, pointing out that “Once we are still alive and have the ability, we cannot give up but instead keep striving for greater opportunities. Said, “Allah will bless you and help you to realize your ambitions”.
Also speaking in his palace, His Royal Highness (HRH) Alhaji (Dr) Ndanusa Haliru Yahaya, the Emir of Shonga pledged his support to the Senstor Shaaaba to ensure the realization of his aspiration.
At Tsaragi, the Etsu of Tsaragi, His Royal Highness Alhaji Abdullah Aliyu assured Senator Shaaba of his support, adding that the entire traditional rulers in the North are solidly behind zoning governorship seat to Kwara North.
Senator Lafiagi in his comment appreciated the Etsu Tsaragi for playing a leading role in championing the cause of power shift to kwara North come 2019 governorship election.
” Without mincing words, HRH has done marvellous by playing a leading role for posterity”.
“Your highness I am here to specifically thank you for your courage and interest in fighting for equity, justice and fairness.
