Kwara 2019: Read what stakeholders want for Issa, Daibu, Onila

Former member of the House of Representatives, Hon Wahab Issa said he was ready to join the gubernatorial race in Kwara State on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) subject to the approval of the leader of the party, Dr Bukola Saraki.

Hon Wahab Issa who was reacting to calls of some stakeholders in Ilorin South Local Government, said he would be glad to answer his people’s calls if was in tandem with the decision of the Senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki.

Stakeholders under the platform of People Democratic Party (PDP) in Ilorin South LG at a meeting in Ilorin weekend, said it was very imperative for Hon Wahab Issa to contest for gubernatorial seat in the 2019 general elections.

They also called on former Chairman of Kwara State Universal Basic Education Board, Barrister Lanre Daibu and Hon Mashood Onila to contest for House of Representatives and House of Assembly seats respectively.

Both Barrister Lanre Daibu and Hon Mashood Onila responded to the calls in affirmative.

The meeting which was at the instance of political groups, Turaki Voice and Committee of Patriots, had party bigwigs, women, youths among other stakeholders in attendance.

Speaking at the meeting, a PDP stalwart, Alhaji Adams Mohammed emphasized the need for Hon Wahab Issa and Barrister Lanre Daibu to join the contest.

He added that their antecedents in politics and public administration prompted the calls for them to join the race.

He said “as we are calling on you to join the contest, we don’t want it stop here. We want you to really struggle for it because you are capable of doing it and believe in your personalities to represent us well”.

Other party elders and stakeholders who spoke at the meeting included Alhaji Agboola Jimoh from Akanbi ward l, Alhaji Toyin Ishola from Balogun Fulani 3, Alhaja Dupe Balogun from Balogun Fulani 2, Alhaji Asabi Balogun from Balogun Fulani 2, former Secretary in Ilorin South local government, Alhaji Suleiman Amza and youth representative, Mr Tunde Ajise among others.

They called on the nominees to join the race because they have all it takes to deliver if given the chance.

Hon Wahab Issa in his response, appreciated his people for the believe and confidence they have in him.

He however promised to join the race subject to the leader of the party’s approval.

Also speaking, Barrister Lanre Daibu equally thanked the stakeholders for believing in him and declared his intention to accept the call which he described as a call to service.

Hon Mashood Onila assured his people of qualitative representation at the state House of Assembly if given the opportunity.
