His Imperial Majesty, the Ooni of Ife, Oba Babatunde Akande Adeyeye Enitan Ojaja II has advised President Muhammadu Buhari to hIt the ground running and not to appoint sycophants as ministers.
Oba Adeyeye gave the advice on Monday (June 3rd, 2019) in his palace during an exclusive personality interview with the highPROFILE.
The Ooni particularly urged President Buhari to disengage those ministers that performed bellow expectation and inject fresh blood in to the system.
He expressed optimism that Nigeria will experience rapid development if vibrant, energetic and honest people are engaged to work with the President as members of his cabinet.
Oba Adeyeye who is the co-Chairman of the National Traditional Rulers Council of Nigeria, explained that he had been advising the President long before now on who to appoint as members of his cabinet.
Oba Adeyeye, who is a frontline monarch in Nigeria also called on President to expedite action on the composition of those that will work with him and expressed hoped that the appointment of the new ministers this time around would not be delayed like the last time.
He therefore urged the president to focus more on national security by ensuring that the security achitecture of the country is improved in order to have a more united and peaceful nation.
He pledged that he was ready to champion the course of the inclusion of traditional roles in the country’s constitution.
The monarch attributed persistent decadence in the country’s polity to the exclusion of traditional rulers in the scheme of things.
While speaking about synergy between traditional rulers and the government, the Ooni of Ife maintained that traditional rulers are not to be seen as being partisans but to remain as good advisers to the government.
