Show reasonable level of sportsmanship, Kwarapoly Rector charges athletes

The Rector of Kwara State Polytechnic, Engr. Dr Abdul jimoh Muhammed has called on all participating athletes of the NIPOGA games to show reasonable level of sportsmanship.


Engr. Muhammed made the call on Saturday (February 8, 2020) while giving his address at the official opening ceremony of the 20th edition of NIPOGA games held at the Kwara State Polytechnic stadium, Ilorin.


The Rector stated that winning in any sporting activities should not be seen as a do or die affair reiterating that participants should ensure that whether they win or lose in the game, there is always room for victory in the future NIPOGA.


He stated further that all participants should show reasonable level of sportsmanship, admonishing them to control their anger when frustration sets in.


He also urged them to display maturity, saying that all hands on deck to ensure a rancor-free NIPOGA.


“Control your anger and display maturity that is what sports require. It is apposite to state here that all hands must be on deck to ensure a rancor-free NIPOGA” he said.


He however urged all athletes to avoid any act of cheating, stealing, violence or other acts that may lead to breach of peace during or after the games.
