No fewer than 75 indigenes of Omu-Aran, the headquarters of Irepodun Local Government Area of Kwara have been trained on digital literacy skills.
The training was organised by Omu-Aran Peoples’ Forum (OPF), a non-governmental organisation, which sees to the unity and coming together for developmental purposes of the people of the community.
The training workshop, tagged Career Guidance For Youth Empowerment with G-SUIT Technology for Startups, CG4YouthTECK (Career guidance for youth empowerment with technology) was packaged and delivered by BC Networks led by Dr Bisi Owolewa.
Speaking during the career talk segment of the workshop, Dr Adedoyin Lawal, the former President of Omu-Aran Youth Forum (OYF), urged participants to be serious with their education and be focused.
He told the participants drawn from various institutions across the country, that only a committed and dedicated students will come out in flying colours in their academic career.
Dr Lawal also asked the participants not to joke with the opportunity that abounds in the Information and Communications Technology (ITC) sector, hence the reason they must pay adequate attention to the workshop.
Another speaker, Engr Bode Owolewa, who is an executive of OPF, while addressing the beneficiaries of the training, he informed them that the training will be an annual event even as he said the next edition will soon get its date and time.
He commended the resource persons at the workshop and those who supported financially, Engr. Owolewa specifically thanked Bola Olawuyi Consulting for providing the beneficiaries materials for the workshop.
Owolewa commended the OPF Education and Scholarship Committee for a job well done.
The chairman of the OPF Education and Scholarship Committee, Mr. Babatunde Adegboyega, while presenting outstanding participants gifts at the end of the training, promised that the workshop will get better with time.
He pledged the Committee’s resolve to ensure that the group, OPF, do all it can to bring the best out of the youths all all times.
Highpoints of the event was presentation of certificates to participants, gifts to outstanding participants during the questions and answers section among others.
