Nigerians  have been encouraged to attach seriousness to serving God and humanity as history is there to judge everybody of his/her deeds on this Earth.

The Chairman of Labour Party, Kwara State Chapter, Comrade Abdulmumini Onagun, gave the encouragement on Sunday in Ilorin, after receiving a meritorious award courtesy of Pakata Patriots’ Ilorin, a social cultural group in Ilorin West Local Government Area of Kwara State.

Onagun who is the former Chairman of the Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC) in Kwara State, said self contribution to the growth and development of the community is a charitable ventures that attracts reward system and compensation by the community in the future.

He said that he never thought he was doing anything tangible for the community to the extent of being considered for an award, and appreciated the group for noticing his little contributions to the advancement of the community.

The former Secretary of Kwara State Chapter of Nigeria Labour Congress, thanked the Pakata Patriots for deeming it fit to recognise him along side five other illustrious sons and daughter of Ilorin Emirate which include the immediate past Vice Chancellor of the University of Ilorin, Professor Abdulganiyu Ambali; the DG of National Broadcasting Commission, NBC, Mallam Ishaq Modibbo Kawu; Hajia Ramat Abdulrahman, among others.

He, however, described the award as a clarion call and a reminder to the entirety of humanity that whatever we do today will become a point of reference in the future.

Commenting on the obvious decaying values and cultures of the people of Ilorin, especially as regards Qur’anic education, the labour leader appealed to parents and guardians to ponder on how to prepare a better future for their children.

He emphasised on the need to bequeath their children and wards with sound Qur’anic education along side Western education, as doing so will afford the children good moral values.

According to him, whoever understands the tenet of morals as contained in the glorious Qur’an will be guided and they would be able to make informed decision about their own life.
