The Kwara State Government has donated 400 pairs of Double bunks, 400 mattresses,100 long-span benches and drugs worth thousands of naira to the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Orientation Camp, Yikpata, in Edu local government area of the state.
The gesture was in fulfilment of Governor AbdulRahaman Abdulrazaq’s pledge to give the camp a face-lift by providing it with all necessary basic necessities of life that would make the camp habitable for the staff of the corps and the youth corps members during the orientation programmes.
In fulfilment of his promise, the government was on Friday (August 9, 2019) presented some items to the management of NYSC, Kwara state for onward presentation to the camp.
It would be recalled that the Governor paid an unscheduled visit to the NYSC orientation camp, Yikpata, Edu LGA, at the beginning of the NYSC 2019 Batch B stream 1, orientation programme in June, this year.
In his brief remerks during his on-the-spot assessment of the camp facilities in June this year, the Governor lamented over the deplorable conditions of the camp facilities, and convened his apology to the Corps members, who were camping, as at the time of his visit.
Worried by the condition he met the camp, Governor Abdulrazaq promised to swiftly intervene and make the camp habitable for the young Nigerians, who are using the facilities during the course of serving their father’s land.
Taking the delivery of the items yesterday in Ilorin, the NYSC State Coordinator, Mrs Ikupolati Ester Tosin appreciated His Excellency for matching his words with actions.
Mrs Ikupolati said the assistance could not have come at a better time than now when the 2019 Batch B stream 2 camp has already been scheduled to commence very soon.
She promised to formally inform the NYSC Director General, Brig Gen Shuaib Ibrahim of the Governor’s kind gesture to the scheme in Kwara state.
