APC victory symbolises people’s wish in kwara – Mustapha

A prominent chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kwara State, Mallam Saliu Mustapha, has described the victory of the governorship candidate of the party, Alhaji Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, as a reflection of people’s movement.

He said the APC was not surprised by the outcome of the election declared in its favour because of the wind of change blowing across the land.

Mustapha, who spoke to Journalists shortly after the declaration of the APC candidate as governor-elect of the state, thanked the electorate for supporting his party in the elections conducted in the state.

The APC candidate, Abdulrazaq was declared winner, trouncing his arch rival from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Hon. Razak Atunwa.

“I’m not surprised by the victory. From what has happened in the past election, there is a wind of change. It is a people’s movement. First and foremost, I must congratulate the electorate and the people of Kwara, who have come out to exercise their civic right and responsibility.

“What people failed to understand is that the world is all about the history of rise and fall of empires. Whether we like it or not, it was bound to happen. One day, some other parties will take charge of the state and it is happening in our own lifetime, the struggle and effort some of us put.

“That is why I said I must thank the electorate and good people of Kwara for making this happened in our own lifetime. For me, it was obvious that this was trajectory the state wanted. And that was why some of us stood firmly in APC because there is a wind of change blowing”, Mustapha said.

The APC chieftain expressed the hope that his party would meet the expectations of the people when it takes over the reign of governance in the state.

He added, “We have promised and we pray that we would be able to keep up with the promise. May the Almighty Allah guide us to be able to lead the state to the next level of progressive movement whereby things would be better for the people of Kwara. That is our wish and aspiration.

“Like you all know, with the manifesto of the APC, which is more of a populist welfarism, party that wants to give more to the people, we hope and pray that APC will deliver so that we can also in our lifetime, be proud of this change that we are part of”.
