….Calls for announcement of Professor Oba as flagbearer
Over 2,000 supporters and members of All Progressives Congress (APC) in kwara state on Monday protested over the alleged substitution of some candidates that won the APC primaries in the state for another unpopular candidates.
They called on National Working Committee of the APC to announce Professor Oba Abdulraheem as the winner of the recent gubernatorial primary as he polled the highest number of votes during the primary election in the state with over 7,000 margine ahead of the next person to him in the race.
The aggreived members of the party however pointing the accusing fingers to the leadership of the party in the state and Minister of Information, Alhaji Lai Muhammed for being the brains behind what they described as sacrilegious and injustice of the highest order.
They accused party of subtituting Professor Suhaib Oba who won the governorship primary, some members of the state House of Assembly as well as popular Honourable Alajagusi who won the House of Representatives primary for another anoited candidates of the leadership of the party.
They therefore called on the national leadership of the party to as a matter of urgency intervein into the matter so as to restore orderliness and good democratic process into the fold of APC in kwara.
Addressing press men in Ilorin amidst teeming members of the party, a chieftain of APC in the state, Honourable Olawale John Adegboye said what happened in Kwara APC was an injustice of highest order which he said is against the democratic norms.
“It is very unfortunate that we can be claiming to be fighting corruption when right here in our faces corruption was perpetrated against the good people of kwara state.
“In a situation where we have not even gotten to the general elections, we are already seeing cases of aspirants being substituted for people that did not even collect forms. It is unfair, unacceptable and a total sacrilegious atrocity against democratic norms.
“We want to tell President Muhammadu Buhari to tell the APC Chairman that if APC wants to win election in kwara state, all these injustice must be addressed, but if left unaddressed, we are not sure of APC’s victory in kwara state” he added.
Also in his address, the Director General of Professor Suhaib Oba Abdulraheem campaign organisation, Barrister Sarafadeen, described what happened at the kwara APC primary as a coup against collective decision of APC members in kwara state.
Barrister Sarafadeen said his candidate, Professor Oba, as a law abiding citizen, had filed a petition at the national secretariat of APC, adding that up till now, no response from the nation secretariat of APC.
Also speaking, Honourable Abdulganiyu Alabi, an aspirant that vied for the state House Assembly from Ilorin West Local Government Area lamented that his mandate has been hijacked and subtituted for another aspirant who did not win during the primary.
