The Speaker of the Kwara State House of Assembly, Dr Ali Ahmad has pledged that the ongoing political activities in the state will not distract the house’s collective resolve to legislate on matters that will add more value to the lives of the good people of kwara.
Dr Ahmad made the pledge on Tuesday in the hallowed chamber of the House during his speech on the resumption of plenary.
“In spite of the political activities now in full blown curse, Honourable Members of this Assembly will not be distracted from our collective resolve to continue to deliver the dividends of democracy to the good people of Kwara State up to the last day of this Assembly” Ahmad pledged.
The Speaker implored his colleages to, be more than ever before, move close to their constituents to enable them feel their pulse on outstanding areas of need so that impactful motions and other legislative actions may be taken to address them in good time.
Dr Ahmad however congratulated political parties in Nigeria especially PDP in the state and the nation at large over the successful conclusion of the party’s primaries and national convention that produced party’s candidates for various offices in the forthcoming 2019 general elections.
The speaker particularly congratulated Rt Honourable Razak Atunwa on his emergence as the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state and wished him and other candidates of the party a resounding success in the forthcoming elections.
The lawmakers however suspended other legislative bussinesses for the day in honour of late Princess Funke Adedoyin, a Member of the House of Representatives that represented Oke-Ero/ Isin/Irepodun/Ekiti federal constituency who passed on on 28th of September, 2018.
The Speaker and other members of the House eulogised late Princess funke Adedoyin and described her as a loving, kindhearted, and a dedicated politician who served her community diligently with provision of various amenitiies in variois towns and communities she represented.
