Melody FC, Idofian has defeated Amoyo FC to win the friendly match in honour of the Special Assistant to Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed on Community Relations (Non-indigenes), Deacon Olayemi Adekunle David (JP).
Melody FC defeated Amoyo FC with 4-2 in a penalty shoot out after the regulation time ended in 1-1 draw.
The competition which was played at Amoyo Primary school football pitch, had 8 teams participated.
Shiney Star defeated Golden Boys to clinch the third place trophy.
The competition was sponsored by old players club in the community.
Speaking with The Highprofile Sports at the end of the competition, the chairman of organizing committee, Prince Ishola Rofiu Oloyede said the competition was organized to showcase hidden talents among the footballers at the grassroots.
He appreciated the sense of maturity and sportsmanship demonstrated by all the participanting teams.
Oloyede also thanked the Special Assistant for his contributions towards ensuring the success of the competition and gave assurance that the competition would be a continuous exercise.
In his remark, the Special Assistant to Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed on Community Relations (Non-indigenes), Deacon Olayemi Adekunle David (JP), said the competition was in line with the mandate of his office which is the integration between indigenes and non-indigenes among various communities in the state.
While describing the competition as entertaining and peaceful, he said the competition had truly shown that Kwara is a state of harmony and expressed gratitude to Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed for creating enabling environment for peace to strive.
He noted that the competition would further cement their existing peace, oneness and unity among the various communities and appreciated the organisers for the honour done on him.
Highlights of the occasion were the presentation of trophy and medals to the winners, including exchange of pleasantries.
