Okeya-Ipo sets to receive face-lift, click to know where in Kwara

The Olujopo of Okeya-Ipo, in Irepodun Local Government Area of Kwara State, Oba Saheed Giwa Opadoye, has called on sons and daughters of Okeya-Ipo to continue to evolve programmes and projects for the attainment of sustainable development of the town.

Oba Opadoye made the call on Saturday in his address at the 10 million naira fund raising for the developmental projects of Okeya-Iya community held at International Tobacco Company (ITC) Club hall, Ilorin, the Kwara state capital.

The monarch who was happy with the large turn out of Okeya-Ipo indigenes at the event, and their generous contributions at the launching, expressed confidence that the launching would give birth to a tremendous community development with additional self help projects that will ultimately add value to living standard in the community.

The Olujopo advised sons and daughters of his community to continue to sustain the existing love and affection as well as the spirit of sportsmanship in the interest of growth and development of Okeya-Ipo community.

Also speaking at the launching ceremony, the Chairman of Okeya-Ipo Community Development Association (OCDA), Ilorin Zone, Honourable Saheed Oyelowo said Okeya-Ipo community has been executing various community self help projects from time immemorial.

Oyelowo said most of the projects in the community like schools, hospital, motorised boreholes among other basic amenities are the products of community self help projects.

The OCDA Chairman therefore appealed to the kwara state government to provide Okeya-Ipo Hospital with Doctors and other health personnel for effective health care delivery system in the community and other neighboring towns.

Among indigenes of Okeya-Ipo that present at the launching included a Director, Center for Peace and Strategic Studies, University of Ilorin, Professor Noah Yusuf; Chief Abdulraheem. D Omoniyi former Secretary, University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital (UITH); some notable figures from Okeya-Ipo and kwara south in general among others.

Highlights of the event included cash donation by invited guests, public presentation of sugarcane, being the community known popular cash crop from time immemorial. Sugarcane was eulogised by an elderly man from the community among other scintillating side attractions.
