The Executive Secretary of the board, Alhaji Abdulsalam Abdulkadri, has announced that 2,150 intending pilgrims have been registered and will be airlifted by Max Air starting mid-May 2025.
He urged pilgrims to approach Hajj with reverence, dedication, and steadfastness, emphasizing its sacred nature.
Alhaji Abdulkadri revealed that a comprehensive enlightenment programme is scheduled for the following Sunday at the board’s premises, revealing that seasoned Islamic scholars will deliver insightful lectures to prepare pilgrims for the journey.
The board scribe disclosed this on Sunday (April 20, 2025) during an enlightenment lecture and prayer organized by the Kwara State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board, in Ilorin, the state capital.
Earlier, The Secretary to the Kwara State Government (SSG) Prof. Mamman Saba Jibril urged intending Muslim pilgrims to represent the state with dignity and focus throughout the Hajj, emphasizing that the pilgrimage is a spiritual journey, not a social event.
Prof. Jibril, represented by Permanent Secretary Alh. Abdulganiyu Shuaib, encouraged pilgrims to complement the state’s efforts by exhibiting good behavior and adhering to the board’s rules and regulations.
This, he noted, would ensure a successful and fulfilling pilgrimage.
The State Amirul Hajj, the Olupo of Ajase-Ipo, Oba Ismail Yahaya Alebiosu, urged intending pilgrims to be good ambassadors by remaining peaceful and dedicated to the Hajj rites, even in the face of provocations. He emphasized the importance of maintaining composure during the pilgrimage.
Oba Alebiosu praised Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq’s administration for putting in place measures to ensure a successful Hajj exercise, commending the governor’s efforts in facilitating a smooth pilgrimage experience.
The Chairman of the State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board, Prof. Moshood Mahmoud Jimba, expressed gratitude to the state government for ensuring a smooth Hajj experience through various initiatives, including renovating the Hajj camp, appointing competent personnel, and collaborating with the Airport Authority.
Prof. Jimba emphasized that Hajj is a crucial pillar of Islam, deserving of utmost seriousness. He advised intending pilgrims to attentively participate in preparatory lectures to maximize benefits and avoid missing essential activities during the pilgrimage.
Special prayers were offered for the intending pilgrims by Sheikh Abdullahi Abdulhameed, Imam Imale of Ilorin.
The enlightenment programme drew notable attendees, including Alh. Muhammad Adebayo, Balogun Gambari of Ilorin, and other prominent religious leaders.
