The Executive Governor of Borno State, Professor Babagana Zulum, shared his remarkable life journey, from driving commercial buses across Nigeria for 18 years to becoming a state governor.
Governor Zulum disclosed this on Tuesday (January 7, 2025) during his lecture at the 14th Convocation Ceremony and 20 years Anniversary of Al-Hikmah University, Ilorin, the Kwara State capital.
Governor Zulum, the guest speaker at the well-attended convocation ceremonies, recalled engaging in various roles, including commercial driving, while pursuing formal education. His routes spanned northern states and southwest and South-South regions, including Ibadan, Lagos, Benin, Ore, Asaba, and many more.
“I still visit my parents’ farm weekly, demonstrating my submissiveness and humility. Instead of indulging in city comforts, my obedience and diligent service earned me esteemed positions, ultimately leading to my role as Executive Governor of Borno State” Gov Zulum remarked.
Zulum attributes his success to humility and submissiveness to his parents. He fondly recalls following them to the farm well into adulthood, rendering assistance. This sense of responsibility and obedience earned him several positions, ultimately leading to his current role as Executive Governor of Borno State.
Zulum’s story inspires many, demonstrating perseverance and humility can achieve greatness.
