A Non Governmental Organisation which specialises in Water Sanitarion and Hygiene, WaSH Sustainable Development Goal by aleviating water poverty across West Africa through the providing clean water from boreholes and wells and also making advocacy on Water Sanitarion and Hygiene across the subregion was honored with an award on Saturday, November 9 ,2024.
The award was presented by Sustainable Empowerment Access Network (SEAN), a Non-govermental Organisation which specialises in linking people in dire need of help with entities that could help them achieve succour.
In its citation on why SEAN gave Hope Spring Water Carity the award, SEAN said,
“The award was as a result of the organisation’s unwavering impact on providing quality water for its environment “.
In his acceptance speech,the representative of Hope Spring Water Charity Mr. Mubarak Oladosu thanked SEAN for the award and he described it as encouraging.
He also gave a brief history of his Organisation which he said was founded by a Nigerian Phiĺantropist in the Diaspora, Mr. Temitope Odurinde. He noted that while Hope Spring Water Charity has been active across West Africa it started in Nigeria in 2016 and had its first project here in Ilorin, Kwara .
Mr. Oladosu also appreciated the Guest Speaker at the event, Professir Abiodun Amuda Kannike S.A.N on his lecture titled “Empower Engage, Elevate: Creating Sustainable Impact For Underserved Populations”, emphasizing that the legal luminary has spoken truth to power words and urged people in Government heed the wise counsel of the statesman.
He further added that his principal, and the organisation is committed to providing clean water and helping deprived communities.
In his lecture, Professor Abiodun Amuda Kannike lamented how Council leaders and local government Chairmen ignore stakeholders in their various localities, distance themselves once elected and live in a bubble where they lose touch with reality of poverty ,exclusion and deprivation.
He noted that while a few who want to create some impact ,they often give what they want to give and not what the community needs
Other awardees honored at the occasion were Oyabambi Foundation, . Prince Adewole Adebayo Represented by Dr. Jibrin Abubakar ,Hon Nnafatima Imam, Engr. Okolie Augustine Represented by Dr. Abubakar Jiyade, Dr. AbdulRahman Adetunji Represented by Comrade Bolaji Daud, Barr. Issa Manzuma Pst. Alfred Olusegun of Private Schools Proprietors, Prince Abdulwasiu Otoola,MESH Foundation represented by Dr. Jabaje,Olugbemiga Foundation and Sisters of Jannah Represented by theirKwara State Coordinator.
Distinguished personalities at the event included the Alamoyo of Amoyo and former Kwara NUJ Chairman, Mr Biodun Kareem, BOT member of SEAN, Mrs Victoria Olatoye ,among others.
