The Vice Chancellor of the Kwara State University (KWASU), Professor Shaykh Luqman Alade-Jimoh has been described as a scholar of repute with humility and simplicity.
The founder of Al-Hikmah University, Alhaji Abdulraheem Oladimeji; the founder of Ghalib Chambers, Professor Yusuf Olaolu Ali SAN; the Vice Chancellor of the University of Ilorin, Professor Wahab Olasupo Egbewole; an Islamic Scholar Dr Yusuf Kolawole Jummah; Dr Mrs Balikis Amoloye; and several others disclosed this while speaking on Sunday (July 28, 2024) at a luncheon commemorating the appointment of Professor Shaykh-Lukman Jimoh as Vice Chancellor of Kwara State University (KWASU), hosted by Professor Yusuf Ola-Olu Ali SAN.
In his lecture at the well attended event, Doctor Yusuf Kolawole Jummah advised those in positions of authority to avoid destructive attributes that could mislead them.
He identified such attributes as pride, arrogance, and the pomposity of position.
The Islamic scholar however cautioned the newly appointed Vice Chancellor to steer clear of these negative traits while performing his duties.
Doctor Jummah also advised Professor Jimoh not to use his position to suppress or destroy others’ futures, urging humility and openness in dealing with colleagues.
“As the Vice Chancellor of KWASU with a background in Islamic Studies, the Islamic Scholar said Professor Jimoh represents Islamic jurisdictions and scholars and emphasized the importance of upholding the reputation of esteemed Islamic scholars who have previously held such positions” he said.
He urged the KWASU boss to administer the university in a manner aligned with Islamic principles and to be guided by the fear of Allah.
Doctor Jummah commended Professor Jimoh’s extensive knowledge of the Quran and encouraged him to be diligent and upright in his duties.
In his remarks, the Chairman of the occasion and Vice Chancellor of the University of Ilorin, Professor Abdulwahab Egbewole, expressed the committee of Vice Chancellors’ pride in Professor Jimoh’s appointment, assuring that they would continue to collaborate to enhance education standards in the state and country.
The host, Professor Yusuf Ola-Olu Ali SAN, who has known Professor Jimoh for over forty years through the Muslim Students Society of Nigeria (MSSN), encouraged him to maintain his integrity and treat others with respect.
He called on friends and colleagues to support and remind the new Vice Chancellor of his responsibilities.
The founder of Alhikmah University, Alhaji AbdulRaheem Oladimeji Igbaja, presented a holy Quran to the new Vice Chancellor and prayed for Allah’s guidance in his leadership of KWASU.
Also speaking at the luncheon, the Vice Chancellor of Thomas Adewumi University, Professor Francisca Oladipo said KWASU and her University share something in common as the duo institutions have the same person as their Chancellor who is Dr Johnson Bamidele Adewumi.

The event was attended by top management and staff of KWASU, as well as families, friends and admirers of the host and the honouree.
