The National President of Ilorin Emirate Descendants Progressive Union (IEDPU), Alhaji Abdulmumini Ayo Abdulmalik, has commended the Vice Chancellor of the University of Abuja, Prof. AbdulRasheed Na’Allah for his numerous contributions towards the progress and development of the people of Ilorin Emirate.
Alhaji Abdulmalik stated this on Wednesday,(February 28, 2024) when he led a delegation of the Union’s National Executive Council on a courtesy call to Prof. Na’Allah in his office.
Alhaji Abdulmalik, who is a retired Assistant Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Immigration Service, described Prof. Na’Allah as a beloved son of Ilorin and someone the Union and the good people of Ilorin Emirate are very proud of.
The IEDPU President, in a statement signed by the union National Secretary, Abubakar Imam, ANIPR, explained that the Union has been following the illustrious career of the Vice Chancellor right from his graduation from the University of Ilorin many years ago and is very proud to associate with him.
Alhaji Abdulmalik thanked the Vice Chancellor for his numerous contributions towards the development of the community’s human resources, particularly in the academia, right from his days as the pioneer Vice Chancellor of the Kwara State University, Malete; and subsequently as the Chief Executive of the University of Abuja.
He also paid glowing tributes to the Vice Chancellor for promoting the cultural heritage of Ilorin Emirate through many of his publications and intellectual interventions at local and global levels.
The community leader, who said that he and his entourage purposely visited the Vice Chancellor to thank him for his services to Ilorin Emirate and for raising the banner of the community as a Chief Executive of one of the nation’s leading ivory towers.
Alhaji Abdulmalik urged the Vice Chancellor and other well-to-do indigenes of Ilorin Emirate to see the Union as a platform for all and always support it towards achieving its set objectives.
He added that the Union is and would continue to do everything to remain socially responsible and responsive to the yearnings and aspirations of the people of Ilorin Emirate as designed by its founding fathers.
Responding, Prof. Na’Allah thanked the IEDPU President and members of his delegation for paying him the visit.
Prof. Na’Allah thanked the Union for recognising and appreciating his humble contributions as a teacher, scholar and University administrator.
He explained that he was highly honoured by the visit as he assured the Union that he would continue to do his best towards advancing the corporate interests of Ilorin Emirate and the nation at large.
The IEDPU President was accompanied on the visit by the Union’s National Vice President, Alhaji AbdulRauf Babatunde Issa; the Vice President (Northern Zone), Alhaji Saheed Tunde Yahaya; the Union’s Chief Imam, Shaykh Murtala Nurudeen Alaaya and the Chairman of the Northern Zone of the Union, Barrister Shehu Moyosore, among several others.
