Rotary Club of Ilorin Prestige distributes writing materials to indigent students

The Rotary Club of Ilorin Prestige has distributed educational materials to the less privileged students in Ilorin metropolis, the kwara state capital.

The programme was part of the activities to mark the theme of this month Rotary Club which is “Basic Education and Literacy”.

Some of the benefitting schools include Federal Government College, Ogidi, Ilorin Grammar School Junior Secondary School and Junior Secondary School Gbagba.

The programme also featured career talk and special counseling for students.

Speaking at the event, the President Rotary Club of Ilorin Prestige, Rotarian Kehinde Obaniyi said the distribution of writing materials was to aid the studies of the less privileged students.

He noted that the gesture was part of the educational development and humanitarian services of the Club.

While describing education as the bedrock of development of any society, Rotarian Obaniyi urged the students to face their studies and avoid any distractive tendencies.

“Once you face your studies, you can become great in life. Your future can be great and you have a very bright future, just face your studies”.

The President warned the students against joining bad company but focus their studies squarely.

He assured the Club’s continued commitment towards the development of education and other humanitarian services that would have direct impacts on the lives of the less privileged.

Rotarian Obaniyi further described education as the best legacy parents could bequeath on their children and implored parents to give necessary attention education of their children.

He said the Club believes so much in the future of their children, advising that “you should not look down on yourselves no matter your present condition, but be focused and determined, the sky is going to be the beginning of your success”.

He thanked the leaders and members of the Club who have in one way or other contributed to the success of the programme.

The Principal of Ilorin Grammar School Junior Secondary School, Comrade Hussein Zakariyah and the Principal Junior Secondary School, Gbagba, Mallam Saad Atanda who spoke on behalf of the benefitting schools, appreciated the Club for the gesture.

They added that the gesture would go along way in complementing government efforts and called on other organizations to emulate the Club by always reaching out to the less privileged students.
