The Kwara State Government has concluded arrangements to ensure the smooth take off of both the Osi and Ilesha-Baruba campuses of the Kwara State University from next academic session.
This is part of the Government’s plans to meet up with the law that makes KWASU a three campus institution, and to equally take care of the increasing population of the students on yearly basis.
Speaking on Government’s untiring efforts to provide adequate facilities for staff and students, the Government’s Representative on the Council of the University, Alhaji Suleiman Obawankasi Saidu who doubles as the Director Personnel, Finance and Supply of the state Ministry of Tertiary Education, told our correspondence that plans are on top gear by the state government to make the other two campuses functional and ready for use by the 2022/2023 academic year.
On his part, the Vice Chancellor of the University, Professor Muhammed Mustapha Akanbi SAN particularly commended the State Governor, Mallam Abdulrahaman Abdulrazaq for approving the completion of the two campuses, describing the approval as a thing of joy to both staff and students of the institution.
He explained that the two other campuses -Osi and Ilesha-Baruba-, when completed, would afford the Universitily ample opportunity to expose students to another set of the state-of-the-art facilities that will aid effective teaching and learning in the 21 century.
According to the Senior Advocate of Nigeria, contractors have promised to move back to site on Wednesday 9th March 2022 and complete the two satellite campuses within the specifications of 8 to 10 months.
He disclosed that a joint monitoring team between the Kwara State Ministry of Tertiary Education and KWASU has been constituted towards ensuring effective internal control mechanism.
The Vice Chancellor also lauded the Governor’s listening ears to KWASU’s yearnings and aspirations any time the need arises.
“The approval of the completion of the two campuses couple with various ongoing projects that are springing up in Malete campus show clearly that we have a Governor that cares about education in the State, knowing fully well that sound and qualitative education is the hallmark of development in all known human societies” the Senior Advocate of Nigeria said.
Professor Akanbi pledged that the Universitily, under his leadership, would continue to justify the government’s huge investment in the institution by keeping the flag flying and doing everything humanly possible to sustain its legacy as an enviable citadel of learning in the country and beyond.
