Emirate Staff Association: Ambali succeeds Kuranga

Professor Suleiman Folorunsho Ambali of the Department of Physiology and Pharmacology, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, University of Ilorin has emerged the new Chairman of Ilorin Emirate Staff Association, University of Ilorin.


Professor Ambali succeeded Professor Sulyman Alege Kuranga of Department of Surgery, Faculty of Clinical Sciences, College of Medicine University of Ilorin who has been piloting the affairs of the association for the past three years.


Ambali emerged unopposed as the new Chairman during the Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the  association that held on Sunday (August 22, 2021) at the Kwara State College of Education, Ilorin.


Other members of the executive are  Prof. B. S. Alabi as Vice Chairman I; Mr. Abubakar S. Imam as Secretary General,; Alhaji Usman Mustapha as Treasurer; Dr. Taofeeq Lawal as Assistant Secretary General; Mr. Moshood Bolaji as PRO I; and Dr. Mrs. Maimuna Orire Abdulraheem as Financial Secretary.


Others include Mrs. Farida F. Sheriff as Social Secretary;  Mr Kabir Mustapha as PRO II; Dr A O Abdulquadri as Legal Adviser I; Alfa T. Abdulmumeen as Leaga Adviser II; Prof. S. A. Kuranga as Ex-Officio I and Dr. Mubarak O. Ameen as Ex-Officio II.

Speaking shortly before the announcement of the new executives, the Chairman of the Electoral Committee, Professor Lasiele Yahaya and the Secretary of the Committee, Professor O T Mustapha said the committee made a wider consultation and sought the consent of every member.


Professor Yahaya thanked members of the association for giving him the mandate to serve the community in that capacity and thanked all and sundry for their support during the period of the assignment given to him and his team.


Earlier in his farewell message, the out-gone  Chairman of the association, Professor Sulyman Kuranga thanked members for accorded his executive a total support and utmost understanding and implored them to extend the same gesture to the incoming executive members in the interest of growth and development of the University of Ilorin in particular and Ilorin Emirate in general.


In his acceptance speech, the new Chairman, Professor Suleiman Folorunsho Ambali thanked the members for believing in him and promised to do everything within his power to justify the confidence reposed in him and his team members.


Ambali called for support of every member of the association, saying that they should not leave the task for the executive alone, pointing out that all hands must be on deck to collectively move the association to an enviable standard.
