As part of its unique passion for quality education at all levels for all children, a Non-Governmental Organization (NGO), Bazarab Educational Foundation has presented scholarship award to pupils of some selected primary schools in Ilorin metropolis.
The scholarship award was presented to the benefiting pupils under the foundation’s educational support programme tagged “Less Privilege/Vulnerable Children Educational Support (CES), 2021”.
Five schools in Ilorin West, Ilorin East and Ilorin South Local Governments where no fewer than 30 pupils were selected, benefited from the programme.
The schools include Baboko LGEA school, Solagberu Model LGEA school, Ansarul Islam LGEA school, Oke Aluko, St Williams LGEA and Pake LGEA school.
Speaking at the event, the Chief Executive Officer/ Founder of Bazarab Educational Foundation, Dr (Mrs) Zainab Bola Balogun, said the programme was part of the activities of the foundation aimed at contributing to the development of education sector.
She added that the programme was aimed at complementing the efforts of the Kwara State Government in her concerted effort to provide children of school age quality and affordable education.
Balogun added further that the gesture was to contribute to the realization of global SDG goal 4 with the cardinal focus that every child must have access to basic education by 2030.
Dr Balogun explained further that part of the reasons for the programme was to empower the less privileged children with access to basic education from the grassroots.
According to her “the objectives of this project is to support educational success of children at the basic level, promote quality education for the less privileged and vulnerable children in the society, create a better future for the less privileged children with ability to compete favourably in the society and build a successful mindset with low self-esteem in the society due to their status”.
She said that the project would be carried out between 2021-2023 as the less privileged pupils at primary-4 will be supported till they finish their primary 6 classes, while many of them who perform better, would still be supported at post-primary school level.
The CEO/Founder of Bazarab Educational Foundation promised that the foundation would always monitor academic performance and activities of the benefiting pupils.
She advised the management of the benefitting schools to help the foundation with proper monitoring of all the pupils with a view to achieving the set goals.
Dr Balogun used the occasion to charge parents and guardians to give necessary attention to education needs of their children and wards so that they would become useful members of the society.
She assured that the foundation would not rest on its oars in ensuring that the street-kids, orphans, internally displaced children and other less privileged receive special attention in its educational support programme.
The programme also featured “Education and Women in Politics Talks” as part of the activities of the foundation.
Lukman Musa of Ansarul Islam LGEA school, Oke Aluko, Jamiu Abdulfatai of Solagberu Model LGEA school, Boboye David of St Williams LGEA, Ishaq Rodiat of Baboko LGEA school and Sanni Taofeeq of Pake LGEA school who spoke on behalf of other benefiting pupils, appreciated the foundation for the gesture.
While praying God to reward the founder and other members of the foundation who contributed to scholarship award programme in multiple, they promised to focus their studies with a view to justifying the foundation’s investment in their future.
The head-teachers of the selected schools also thanked the founder of the foundation for the kind gesture which they said would go along way in complementing government efforts in ensuring that ‘every child counts.
