Family planning prevelance in Kwara state has increased in the month of June with 73.91% compliance as against the 68.51% increase recorded in May this year.
The latest figure was contained in the Family Planning Dashboard Report for the month of June 2020, released.
According to the report the percentage was lower in April with about 72.88% prevelance recorded, a development expert attributed to the restriction of movement occasioned by the COVID -19 lockdown.
According to the Kwara State family Planning Coordinator, Hajia Bilqees Ibrahim, the prevelance recorded in the month of June can be linked to the availability of the family planning contraceptives released to states by the Federal Government.
She explained that the commodities released by the Federal Government was distributed to all government facilities across the states of the federation.
Hajia Ibrahim who revealed that all the commodities distributed to all the state facilities will assist women to access the service freely without any hindrance.
She thereafter urged women to always patronise government facilities to access their Contraceptives, noting that many women have at least one pregnancy in their lives and half of all pregnancies are unplanned.
Also speaking with the Family Planning provider at the, Children Specialist Hospital, Center Igboro Ilorin, Mrs Adebola Ilori explained that Injectable method is the most highly requested at the facility.
She explained that most of the client accept to take injectable because it is a short term method that can be stopped at any time they feel like unlike long term method.
Ilori added that people do come for other methods like implant, intra-uterine device
Oral pills among others but their request can not be equated with the injectable which is just for 2 to 3 months.
Also, a client at the Centre Igboro Hospital, Hajia Mariam Sulaiman said that the method was introduced to her by her sister and she has been taking it for a year without any problem whatsoever.
