The Vice Chairperson of KAM Holding Limited, Chief (Mrs) Bolanle Yusuf, has told Nigerians on the importance of giving thanks regardless of reality or situation of life, particularly in a time of economic difficulties ravaging the country and the world at large.
She cited passages from both Bible and Quran to buttress the need for every human to be grateful.
Mrs Bola Yusuf made the call at the company’s 2024 carol programme held in Ilorin, the Kwara State Capital on Sunday.
“As we celebrate this year’s Christmas, it is especially important to give thanks regardless of our reality or situation of life. Apostle Paul reminds us in 1st Thessalonians 5:18: “In everything, give thanks; for this is the will of God in Jesus Christ for you.
“This verse highlights that thanksgiving is not conditional; it does not rely on whether our circumstances are favourable or challenging. In every situation, we are called to trust in God’s purpose and express gratitude for His presence and guidance. This message is universal and speaks to all of us, whether we are Christians, Muslims, or of any other faith.
“Gratitude is a virtue that unites humanity. It reminds us to appreciate the blessings of life, to support one another, and to find strength in the face of challenges. The Qur’an also echoes this sentiment in Surah lbrahim 14:7: “If you are grateful, I will certainly give you more.” This verse underscores the power of gratitude to unlock greater blessings in our lives.
“Furthermore, we must give thanks because gratitude changes our perspectives. It shifts our focus from what we lack to what we have. It opens our eyes to the countless blessings we often take for granted; our families, our health, our work, and the gift of life itself. Gratitude brings joy, and joy gives us strength to persevere. Nehemiah 8:10 says, “Do not sorrow, for the joy of the Lord is your strength.”
“At Kam Holding, we have much for which to be thankful. This year has brought its share of challenges, some of them difficult and unexpected. Yet, we remain grateful to God for His unfailing mercy and grace, which have enabled us to achieve remarkable milestones and make significant progress despite these obstacles.
“All of this has been made possible through the Almighty Allah’s guidance and the unwavering dedication of our hard working team. I want to take this moment to express my heartfelt gratitude to each and every one of you who has contributed to our success. Your commitment and passion are deeply valued, and I thank God for blessing us with such an incredible team”, she said.
At the carol programme themed “Give Praise, Give thanks”, Mrs Yusuf reminded the gathering to reflect on the many goodies God has done in the life of individual and give a heartfelt gratitude to Him.
She said, “Christmas season is a time of profound gratitude and heartfelt praise. It reminds us of the boundless love of God, who sent His only son into the world as a gift of salvation. As the angel proclaimed to the shepherds on that holy night: “Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, goodwill toward men (Luke 2:14).
“This declaration calls us to lift our voices in praise, give honour and glory to the One who is worthy. Christmas is a celebration of God’s faithfulness, His grace and unwavering commitment to redeeming humanity.
“This is a call to action, and it transcends all boundaries, inviting everyone of us to recognize the blessings we have received, and to give thanks to the Almighty, the Creator of all. It shouldn’t be about religion but about embracing the universal truth of gratitude and honouring the Almighty God, who provides for us all”.
In his sermon, Revd Dr Okanlawon of ECWA Church emphasized the need to know Jesus Christ, who is the reason for the gathering and all that is attached to celebrating Christmas.
He offered special prayers for the KAM Holding Limited family, the family of Chairman/Group Managing Director and Vice-Chairman of the organisation and the entire congregation.
Prophet Moses Olaosebikan Adio of the Christ Apostolic Church, Alabukun Headquarters, Ilorin was also on hand to offer special prayers.
The Coordinator of Christian Forum, who is also the General Manager, Treasury Management, KAM Holding Limited, Evangelist S.T. Odeyemi, spoke on the love that existed between the staffers and the two head eggs; Dr Kamorudeen and Dr (Mrs) Bola Yusuf, the Chairman and Vice-Chairperson of the organisation.
“This is the 14th edition of this Carol. And we thank God because we do it to give thanks to God every year. And this year, God gave us the privilege, the grace to be able to come together and celebrate once again with total support from the number one family of the organisation”.
On the welfare of members of staff, Odeyemi said, “To the glory of God, we want to appreciate our father and the mother, the family that God has entrusted this company, because being philanthropists, they are so concerned about humanity and God has been using them among us. There is no discrimination in the activities of the company.
“The staffers enjoy privilege to go on pilgrimage, both Christian and Muslim every year solely sponsored by the company, among other welfare packages that excite all cadres of workers in the organisation.”
The Chairman/Group Managing Director of the organisation, Dr Kamoru Ibitoye Yusuf, led prominent dignitaries that attended the annual event.
