The vibrant town of Ayetoro-Yewa in Ogun State came alive recently as the AbikeAmosun Foundation, in partnership with the Ayetoro Youths Association, hosted a transformative business empowerment programme at the New Gbadebo Omidokun Hall. Over 600 eager participants gathered for the one-day event, which provided practical training and entrepreneurial insight to equip them with essential skills for self-reliance and business growth.

The programme catered to diverse interests, with training sessions covering shoemaking, bag making, catering, Alaga services (traditional event coordination), decoration and arts and crafts, graphic design, and fashion design. Beyond skill acquisition, participants were tutored on the essentials of turning ideas into profitable businesses, marketing their products effectively, and navigating the entrepreneurial landscape.

The event began on a patriotic note with the national anthem and the Yewa anthem, setting the tone for a day of inspiration and innovation. The atmosphere was further enlivened by performances from local music artists, showcasing the rich talent of the community.

A major highlight of the programme was the presentation of start-up grants to 15 outstanding participants, a gesture aimed at enabling them to kick-start their ventures. Additionally, mentorship opportunities were extended to over 100 participants, providing them with access to guidance and support from experienced professionals.

In her address, Toluwalope Abike Amosun, the founder of the AbikeAmosun Foundation, underscored the importance of youth empowerment as a catalyst for economic development. She urged participants to maximize the training and mentorship opportunities provided, emphasizing the foundation’s vision of creating self-sufficient entrepreneurs who can contribute meaningfully to society.

“The youth are the backbone of any society,” Amosun remarked. “By equipping them with the right skills and resources, we are building a foundation for sustainable development and economic empowerment in our communities.”

The AbikeAmosun Foundation, a non-profit organisation registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC), has been at the forefront of community development efforts in Ogun State and beyond. With initiatives spanning education, healthcare, and economic empowerment, the foundation has consistently demonstrated its dedication to improving lives, particularly in rural areas.
