The Kwara State Governor, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRasaq has said that the long awaited commissioning of the Tanke Tipper garage bridge known as General Tunde Igiagbon bridge will be done by December this year.
The Chairman of Kwara State Universal Basic Education Board, Professor Adaramaja who represented the governor at the University of Ilorin 39th Convocation Ceremony said this on 22nd October, 2024 at the University auditorium.
The Kwara governor made this known amidst controversies that have trailed the commissioning of the bridge that have long been completed without commissioning for public use.
Governor Abdurahman therefore assured the university management, students and the university community that the project will be commissioned this year for public use.
The Chairman Nigeria Governor’s forum also said that he has approved the extension and asphalt overlay of Tanke junction road to the bridge to ensure smooth movement of people in that community.
He reiterated his administration’s commitment to fostering good relationship with the university management in providing an enabling learning environment that will lead to success through education, innovation, creativity, health care, tourism, and entrepreneurship development in the state.
