In a prestigious ceremony, Idris Alooma, General Manager of UNILORIN FM, was honored with two global awards: YOMAFA Global Award and World Royal Award (WORA). The awards recognized him as Media Personality of the Year and Best User of Language to Reform the World.
Hon. Toyin Aremu, Special Adviser on Transportation to Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, presented the awards. In his remarks, Aremu commended YOMAFA for promoting language, culture, and virtues in society. He assured that the Lagos government would continue supporting the organizers.
Other notable recipients included Olori Temitope Ogunwusi, wife of the Ooni of Ife; Chief Rauf Malik and Chief SB Bakare from Kwara State. This recognition adds to Alooma’s impressive list of awards, including the 2019 UNESCO award for Content Development in Migration in Africa.
In his acceptance speech, Alooma thanked God and the organizers for the recognition. He pledged to remain dedicated to his duties and expressed gratitude to UNILORIN’s Vice Chancellor, Professor Wahaab Olasupo Egbewole SAN ,all stakeholders,those who assited him in one way or the other, his nominators ,those who voted for him via online , for their support.
The ceremony held on Wednesday 2nd October 2024, at Ostra Hotel Alausa Ikeja Lagos drew dignitaries from across the country, including Governor Sanwo-Olu, special advisers, local government chairmen, Nollywood artists, musicians, producers, and frontline broadcasters.
