Oladimeji emerges kwara NILOWV Chairperson

…as Olojoku lauds Gov AbdulRazaq’s women emancipation in politics

The Olojoku of Ojoku Land, in Oyun Local Government Area of kwara State, Oba Abdulrazak Adegboyega Afolabi Iyiolaseni III, has given a pass mark to the State Governor,  AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq,  for his uncommon support for the women which he said gave birth to the appointment of appreciating number of women into his cabinet.

Oba Abdulrazak made the commendation on Wednesday (February 14, 2024) during the inauguration ceremony of the new state leadership of Kwara State Chapter of the League of Women Voters (NILOWV) where Hajia Bilqees Modupe Oladimeji emerged the new Chairperson of the state NILOWV. 

The monarch pledged his unflinching support to Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq in his bid to turn around the fortune of this state.

Oba Abdulrazak however assured the NILOWV of traditional rulkers’ supports and assistance any time the need arises.

He also urged members of NILOWV not to hesitate to seek for any support that is needed to stimulate and enhance their activities in the course of protecting the interests of women folk in the state.p

The guest lecturer at the event, Mr Femi Oyedeji who spoke on the role of women in the nation building, described women as catalysts for sustainable development in all known human society.

Mr Oyedeji recommended  that female child should be given right to quality education and protection sonas to have a society of dreams.

The guest speaker congratulated the new leadership of association and urged them to justify the confidence reposed in them by keeping the flag of the association flying at all times.

He therefore called for support for the women in politics from the major stakeholders at the grassroots, saying that the support of the stakeholders are very relevant for the progress of the women in politics.

In her acceptance speech,  the new NILOWV Chairperson,  kwara state chapter, Hajia Bilqees Oladimeji pledged to use her connection and wealth of experience to promote women emancipation in politics and to also move the association to enviable standards. 

Hajia Oladimeji was alongside other new executives, sworn in at a well attended inauguration ceremony of the new leadership of NILOWV held at the Kwara State Secretariat of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Ilorin, the kwara state capital.

The NILOWV new Chairperson also promised to do everything humanly possible to improve more awareness on women participation in politics. 

According to her, “one of my cardinal objectives is to expand advocacy to the grassroots and as a matter of priority I will engage  with women across the 16 Local Government areas of the state.

She pledged to bring her vast experience into bear through execution of women oriented programmes that will ultimately grant them social space in the scheme of things in the country.
