Nigerian pilgrims today Monday (June 26, 2023) joined their counterparts across the world for the commencement of major Hajj rites, even as over 2 millions pilgrims drawn across the world moved from Makkah to Muna as part of preparations for tomorrow’s Arafah Day.
Pilgrims in the early hours of today (Monday) moved enmass from Makkah, about 9 kilometers, to Muna where they will stay till dawn before proceeding to the Mountain of Arafah after Subh prayer of tomorrowTuesday.
All pilgrims are expected to be on the mountain of Arafah from sun rise till sun set, as standing on the mountain of Arafat is the peak of Hajj exercise.
The NAHCON Deputy Director, Information and Publications, Alhaji Mousa Ubandawaki, in an interview with the Highprofile, advised Nigerian pilgrims to abide by the rules of the exercise so as to achieve the spiritual upliftment associated with Hajj rites.
Ubandawaki also advised pilgrims to stay within their tents in Muna and take water as much as possible to stay hydrated as the weather prediction shows the heat will be severe.
He pledged that NAHCON would not rest on its oars to ensure that interest of all Nigerian pilgrims are adequately protected throughout the period of the Hajj operations as well as their safe return back to Nigeria.
Alhaji Ubandawaki therefore attributed the resounding success recorded on the total airlift of all 95,000 Nigerian pilgrims to SaudiArabia, to the good eadership style of the Commission’s Chairman, Alhaji Zikrullah Kunle Hassan.
