Court Remands Kwara Medical Doctor For Allegedly Raping Patient

The Kwara State magistrate court sitting in Ilorin has remanded Doctor Ayodele Joseph, the Chief Medical Director (CMD), of Ayodele Hospital for allegedly rapping a patient, who came for treatment in his hospital at Sawmill area, Ilorin, Kwara State.

According to the report police gave yesterday, says, the patient who went to his (Dr Ayodele) hospital for treatment happened to be a professional nurse, and the defendant (Dr. Ayodele) took advantage of her, and has sexual intercourse with her without her consent.

Police report: “The nurse went to the hospital for treatment when the doctor, who claimed to be having 27years experience in medical field, took advantage of her under sedation.

“Investigations into the matter, however, led to the recovery of the video recording containing sexual action of the defendant on the victim, while medical report also confirmed that the said nurse was assaulted and raped.”

Meanwhile, the government prosecutor Gbenga Ayeni, informed the court of the gravity of the offence and the motion ex parte attached to the police report seeking the remand of the defendant in correctional centre.

However, Magistrate Jumoke Kamson, who handled the case, granted Ayeni’s plea (To remand the defendant), while the case was adjourned to May,18, 2023.
